What are your payment terms? Do you require a deposit?
We generally require a deposit to secure the event date so no-one else can book it.
Usually around 25% of the total quotation, with the balance paid on or before the night.

We also have EFTPOS with credit card facilities at the office.

What assurance do we have that you will turn up? Any contract?
We are happy to sign a contract with all times listed so there can be no misunderstandings.
Not that there ever is - I always keep in contact and respond to emails and phonecalls promptly.

In the unlikely event that we can not show up (this has NEVER happened), we will refund any
deposit paid in full plus an additional 25% of the total fee.

What Sound Equipment do you use?
This is an important question to ask (but then I am an electronics tech by trade so might be a little biased)

You hear horror stories of djs using their home stereo equipment or worse. The Sound System should
be reliable and built for the job. Home stereo equipment is designed to work in a small room, whereas
professional PA gear is designed to run for long periods in large spaces (and is priced accordingly).

For most performances with up to 150 guests, my preference is to use the industry standard
Mackie SRM450 speakers with a Professional Subwoofer to add a little punch to the bass.

We have many other speakers and amps including huge double 18 bandpass subwoofers.

We use the latest digital controllers and fast computers which allow for extra features such as
Music Video mixing, Karaoke, and Trivia Quiz Nights. My controller of choice at the moment is
the American Audio VMS4 which allows control of 4 music video tracks simultaneously.

I have a demonstration area at my house in Stokes Valley. Please contact Leigh and I would
be more than happy to provide a full demonstration of how the system works.

Remember anyone with a home stereo plugged into their laptop can call themselves a dj!!

We need background music for dinner - what can you do?
We can provide a portable PA including a memory stick with more than 5 hours of background
music ready to go when you turn on the power switch.

What lighting do you have?
Musical Cheers have several options for lighting and will tailor the lighting package to suit
your requirements and venue choice.

The standard lighting package we use for djing is fully DMX controlled from the dj's computer and
can be set to subtle and mood enhancing for earlier, and more spectacular later at night.

LED uplighting is also available and has 16 million colours so you can choose the room colour you desire.

Cartoon Graphics Lasers and larger lighting packages available to suit your requirements.

What music do you play?
We play anything that you and your guests would like to hear.

We have a huge range of music in our collection from classic 40s through to the latest top40
dance mixes, rock, r&b, rap, techno, hard house, electro, trance - you name it.

Also well experienced in selecting dinner music to suit your guests tastes.

We encourage you to select some favourite tunes from our playlist of most requested songs.
This is definitely NOT all the music we have - a lot of the latest stuff is not on there as this list
is really a one size fits all and is really more suitable for weddings than for school dances.

Just let me know any other songs you want - we probably have four music video mixes of it already.

Who actually performs at the event?
I will let you know if I am personally available to dj at your event.
If I am already booked, then my brother Gareth has been working with me for many years and is
a very good and successful dj having played all over New Zealand.

How far will you travel?
I will travel as far as required but bear in mind that there are additional costs for
travel and accommodation and petrol is expensive.

...so fly me to London for a two hour electro house set - I'm packed and ready to go ;)

How much do you charge?
We offer great discounts for most Wellington venues and will tailor the equipment
and hours specifically for you and your chosen venue.

It is almost impossible to provide a pricing quote without some discussion of your
event/occasion and what you would like us to provide.
